The Journey of a Family Striving to Live Dangerously Surrendered!

"Surrendering means that we have come to the end of our independence from him, our reliance on self-sufficiency, and our insistence that we don’t need him. Surrender to God changes everything! Why add the word dangerous to surrender? Because we don’t surrender to a benevolent but impotent grandfatherly figure; we surrender to Almighty God —the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. C. S. Lewis’s character Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia depicts God as a magnificent lion —good, but certainly not safe. Surrendering your life to God is the boldest and riskiest step you can take. Being dangerously surrendered to God allows you to know him in increasingly deeper ways and to participate fully in his will. " ~Kay Warren

Flight Prices

The price to fly is going up everywhere. We have checked into some flights if we travel in June or July and we are now looking at around $8,000-$9,000 for the three of us. We were aiming at $10,000 total for our travel expenses, including hotel, food, and our last CWA fees in Ethiopia. This pushes our total amount we needed to around $15,000-$17,000 for travel! Whew! We really need a miracle now!

God, no doubt, will provide. He has been providing in wonderful ways up to this point. I guess this will make it a bigger miracle!

Please be praying about this in addition to praying about the document we are needing the officials at Soddo to produce and a court date. We are really hoping to bring Joshua home before my sister's wedding in August. She wants him to be the ring bearer in her wedding wearing his African dress. Her fiancee is from Uganda and will be in African dress too. We SO would love to have Joshua home for that.

Thank you for praying! This is, by far, the most difficult part of this journey. Waiting and waiting and praying for those final finances to come in.

We value your prayers so much. Thank you for extending your faith our way. It will make a huge difference in the life of a child.

With deep love,
Pastor Kurt and JoLynn

Hi JoLynn - Thanks for the invite to your blog. Privileged to pray for you. Jeff just put a video of little Joshua Israel in the mail to you today. Hope it encourages your heart as you wait on God during this excruciating time.
